Tattoo Aftercare

· Remove wrap after 1-3 hours (leave uncovered)
· Wash with warm soap and water using only your hand. DO NOT soak your tattoo in water. Refrain from swimming, hot tubs etc until healing is complete.
· Dry tattoo immediately after washing. Refrain from rubbing and always pat dry with a disposable cloth.
· 24 hours after receiving your tattoo, apply a thin coat of fragrance free lotion (Aveeno, Lubriderm etc) approximately 10-20 minutes after drying. Do this 2-3 times daily.
· Avoid direct sunlight for the first 4-6 weeks. After healing is complete, sun block may be applied.
· Avoid clothing that will cause friction with your new tattoo (bra straps, socks, bracelets etc).
· DO NOT pick or scratch your tattoo!
· DO NOT take advice of friends. Call your tattoo artist with any questions.

Oral Cleaning

Your mouth piercing needs to be cleaned twice a day with Gly-Oxide. Gly-Oxide can be purchased at any pharmacy or drug store. In addition to using the Gly-Oxide you must rinse out the piercing after you eat or smoke for the first month. We have found that using a diluted mouthwash (50% water to 50% mouthwash) works best. If you are a heavy smoker you might find that just rinsing out with salt water might work better if your tongue starts turning a whitish color. In addition, with oral piercings, it is a must that you refrain from oral sex and deep mouth kissing until after the initial healing time.

Initial Healing Times:

Tongue = 2-4 months Labret = 2-5 months Lip = 2-6 months

Directions:

1 – Wash your hands thoroughly. This is a must!
2 – Put two drops of Gly-Oxide on the jewelry and work it around the piercing.
3 – Spit out any of the remaining Gly-Oxide and check to make sure that if you have threaded jewelry, that the threading is still tight. If you have a labret or lip piercing you will also need to follow the guidelines at the top of this page for facial piercings.

Further healing suggestions:

· Taking a 50mg Zinc supplement daily and Vitamin C can decrease healing time.
· Many piercings heal faster if you hot soak 1 cup of clean hot water and ¼ tsp of sea salt. Apply a cloth soaked with the mixture using firm gentle pressure turning the jewelry every couple of minutes.
· Keep your clothes clean. If your piercing is always touching dirty clothes, problems will occur.
· Don’t put special beads or charms on your jewelry until after the initial healing time.
· Don’t change your jewelry until after the initial healing time. If this is a must we will change the jewelry for you.

Piercing Don’ts:

· Using Neosporin, triple antibiotic ointment or any gel based cleaner. They stop the oxygen from getting to the piercing and therefore increases healing time.
· Using rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. They over-dry the skin and hinder the healing process.
· Over cleaning. Many people think that if cleaning one or twice a day is good, then six or seven times a day is better. It’s not. You should clean your piercing only once or twice a day.

Body Piercing Guidelines

Your piercing needs to be thoroughly cleaned at least twice a day. Don’t use a variety of cleaning agents or problems will arise. What we have found, along with many other professional piercers, is that Provon is by far the best cleaner. Because it can’t be purchased in stores, we recommend that you use bactine or betadine that can be purchased in stores. The cleaning procedure for body piercings is best performed in the shower.

Initial Heal Times:

Navel = 4-9 months Nipple/Male = 4-6 weeks Nipple/Female = 4-6 months
Earlobe = 6-8 weeks Ear Cartilage = 3-5 months Tragus = 3-6 months
Septum = 2-5 months Ear Head = 4-8 months Nose = 3-6 months
Eyebrow = 2-4 months

Genitals:

PA = 4-6 weeks Scrotum = 2-3 months Frenum = 2-3 months
Guiche = 2-3 months Ampallang = 4-6 months Apadravya = 4-6 months
Clit hood = 4-6 weeks Inner Labia = 4-6 weeks Outer Labia = 2-3 months

Directions:

1 – Wash your hands thoroughly. This is a must!
2 – Remove any “crusties” that have dried on the jewelry and around the piercing with warm water.
3 – Put the cleaning agent on the jewelry and let the water run on it to dilute it. Turn the jewelry so it gets inside the piercing. Leave it on for 2-3 minutes.
4 – If irritation does occur, try switching to any one of the following products: Antibacterial Dial, Lever 2000, Almay Hypocare or any antibacterial soap in a pump. If you know you are allergic to triclosan, try using Clearly Natural or NutriBiotic. However, all of these products must be diluted with water. Don’t use soaps that have a lot of perfumes, cold creams or deodorants.
